[Swan-dev] prefixing debug lines with connection/state?

BTW, the man page has this comment regarding the "|":

    All lines of debugging output are prefixed with "| " to
distinguish them from normal diagnostic messages.

so I'm left wondering if we're even putting the time stamp in the wrong
place, i.e., this:

    Oct 30 12:38:55.367727: | category states: 1 count states: 1

should look like this:

    | Oct 30 12:38:55.367727: category states: 1 count states: 1
