Oh and as a cleanup I think all the commented out patches in
debian/patches ought to be deleted if they aren't meant to be used
anymore.  Just having an empty series file in debian/patches makes
quilt happy.  The proper files in .pc to tell quitl where to work need
to be added too so it really does work as a quilt format package.
Of course those ought to be in the *.debian.tar.gz, not the upstream tar
file, which makes it a bit difficult if you want to be both the upstream
and the packager.  That applies to the whole debian subdirectory too
for that matter.
