    addconn: don't set default {left,right}updown
    
    Instead handle it in connections.c.
    When never-negotiate, ignore the field.

    Note the hack changing '' to %disabled to get around:
      don't pickle "" into NULL #1613
    And:
      how can an unoriented interface have my_updown #1611
