    Vendor ID: build a sorted table; debug-log any issues
    
    Note that while this builds a sorted table of VIDs it doesn't
    explot it.  As the debug-log shows, there's a clash between:
    |   64 Openswan(project) substring+match
    |      4f 45 [OE]
    and numerous other entries.  Handling that means something other
    than a simple binary search.
