    pluto: clarify add_connection
    
    - change format_connection's return result to be a pointer to the
      formatted string: this seems to be more convenient than the string
      length.
    
    - increase symmetry between ah and esp
    
    - fix leaks and add comments to avoid future ones
    
    - fix misleanding indentation on large chunks
