    pluto: a bandaid to avoid a memory leak, "nullgw info"
    the leak goes up with time. It could be improved.
    c->gw_info is not filled up correctly, e.g no refcnt..
    
    "leak: 2 * nullgw info, item size: 128"

    tidy up event initializations.
