    testing: prevent a swantest deadlock which results from a timeout
    
    - the run() method gets a try/catch so all locks are released.
    Provides a really hacky catch-all.
    - the command sequence that timed out switched to shell.Remote
    That has a larger timeout and better prompt pattern matching.
