    * improve vendor.c
    
    Eliminate leading _ from _vid_tab and _hexdig.
    Make out_vendorid and out_vid return bool, as they are declared to do.
    Clarify and simplify out_vendorid and out_vid.
    Shrink the scopes of i and j in handle_known_vendorid.
    Replace two memsets with two simple assignments.
    Add const to pgp_vendorid's type.
